We are Liverpool John Moores final year film students. We created the Final Stanza for our final film project. We wanted to utilise our individual strengths to work together and create our final project. We used our experience from previous university assignments, work experience and individual learning to help us when creating the film. We couldn't have created the film without help from the LJMU screen school's facilities and guidance, as well as the kindness of the team at "The Fly" for allowing us to use their pub as one of our filming locations.
The Crew and their roles
Director and Writer- Josh Fallon
Josh’s role as director was to lead the creative vision of the film. He wrote the script of the film and brought our vison to life. He collaborated with the actors, set designers and the rest of the crew to create the dark comedy. He was also in charge of making the decisions on any creative changes with the acting, or helped make decisions about the cinematography. It was also important that he was present at the shoots so that he could ensure the tone and atmosphere of the film was portrayed how he originally wanted because then the story could align with his vision.
Producer- Emily Morris
Emily ‘s role as producer was to oversee the entire production process, this being from pre-filming to completion. Within this role, she managed the budget, arranged schedules and sorted any necessary resources which ensured that the project stayed on track. She also helped resolve any problems as they happened such as when we encountered actor issues, location issues and travel issues and by doing this, it all helped to result in a smooth completion of the final product.
Sound Design- Liam Stalker
Liam’s role was to handle all the audio-related tasks such as recording and editing with Sophie. He captured the dialogue and any necessary sound effects during shoots. Then he also collaborated with Josh to ensure that the sound of the film fit the correct emotional tone that Josh was hoping for. Liam sourced the music throughout and then most importantly he made sure that the sound was clear and immersive throughout the film.
Cinematographer- Emily Trask
Emily was responsible for the visual aspects of the film. Emily worked a lot with Josh to determine the visual aspects of the film, such as camera angles, types of shots and any lighting decisions. She also selected and operated any camera equipment and managed the film’s visual consistency. Her main role was to work with Josh, director, to captivate the films visuals in a way that transferred the story to the audience how the whole group originally hoped.
Editor- Sophie Gregg
Sophie’s role was to assemble all the footage together for the film. She arranged it all together, cut where necessary and fixed some lighting and sound issues in post-production. She added effects and sound design in order to enhance the narrative through multiple edits of the film and then made sure that the final edit was perfect for submission and distribution.
